Department of Social Security currently boasts 12 faculty, including five full professors, one associate professor and six full-time lecturers, among which, there are seven doctors (three with a post doctorate program), four PhD candidates, five master supervisors, one PhD supervisor and one committee member of National Teaching Guidance Committee.

As the first department that enrolls social security undergraduate and graduate in Shaanxi province, the department has conducted bountiful scientific research projects, including six National Philosophy and Social Sciences Fund projects and 30 provincial level scientific research projects. The department has published 230-odd academic papers and won 15 scientific research awards of provincial and ministerial level. On the university level, Social Security was graded as Northwest excelsior course in 2004 and professor Xi Heng and professor Xu Lin successively won the 2nd prize of the 2nd and 3rd Northwest University Excellent Teaching Award.
